Orange S.A. was founded in 1988 in France and is headquartered in Paris. This international telecommunications corporation serves more than 266 million customers worldwide. In terms of size, it ranks 4th in Europe after Vodafone, Telefónica and VEON, and 12th in the world among telecommunications companies.

Prior to the IPO, Orange S.A. was actively engaged in the promotion and sale of services in emerging markets. The Middle East and Africa, where Orange is present in 18 countries, is the company's fastest growing market. In this market alone, the company earns an annual profit of about €5 billion euros.
Potential market and prospects
According to analysts, the telecommunications services market in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) is expected to reach $65.4 billion in 2024 compared to $62.0 billion in 2018. The average annual growth will be about 4.9%. The IPO of Orange S.A. will allow the company to raise funds for further expansion in this market — according to Bloomberg Intelligence, the value of the division may amount to about 13 billion euro.
The company is active in emerging markets and sees great growth prospects in the Middle East and Africa. In early 2020, company officials announced that they plan to create a separate company OMEGA (Orange Middle East and Africa) to accelerate the growth of the corporation. After the creation of a separate company, an IPO is planned as one of the potential development scenarios.
In December 2019, CEO Stephane Richard stated that Orange S.A. was "technically ready" for a potential OMEA listing. He also added that the possible expansion of the company in Ethiopia could be a catalyst for the placement.
The largest investment houses represented by BNP Paribas SA and Morgan Stanley were selected as consultants for the Orange SA IPO. The deal is expected to be one of the largest in the Middle East and Africa in 2020.
