Kerry is a public company founded in 1972, headquartered in Tralee, Ireland, and is a Subsidiary of Kerry Group. Kerry focuses on research, development, and production of clean label ingredients. It offers food and beverage ingredients, concentrates and flavor products for food, beverage, and pharmaceutical industries.
Kerry was founded in 1972 when three shareholders came together to invest €200,000 to build a dairy processing facility in Listowel, County Kerry, ireland, forming a company called North Kerry Milk Products Limited (NKMP). The three shareholders were a state-owned Dairy Disposal Company, a local farming co-operative of eight farmers in Country Kerry, and an American company called the Erie Casein Company Inc.
A year after Kerry was founded, the company bought out shares held by the state-owned Dairy Disposal Company and six of eight farmers in the farming co-op, to found a new company which became a subsidiary of Kerry Co-op. Kerry-Co-op became a publicly traded in January 1974.
