Soviet writer
Lazar Lagin, born Lazar Iosifovich Ginzburg on December 4, 1903, in Vitebsk, was a writer, screenwriter, and poet. He authored novels such as "Old Khottabych" and "The Old Genie Hottabych", among numerous other works.
His literary works, primarily focused on the novel genre, were published under the pseudonym "Лагин." Lagin held citizenship in both the USSR and the Russian Empire. Throughout his career, he received multiple awards including the Medal "For the Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945," Order of the Patriotic War 2nd class, Order of the Red Banner of Labour, Medal For defence of Sebastopol, and Medal "For the Defence of Odessa."
Lazar Lagin passed away on June 16, 1979, in Moscow.
