Locus was founded in 2015 by Nishith Rastogi and Geet Garg who are both graduates from BITS Pilani and IIT Kharagpur, who later worked together as engineers at Amazon.In 2014, they developed Pinchat, a location-based conversational platform. They also developed a geo-tracking app, RideSafe for women’s safety in 2015 which tracks route deviations by drivers from the pre-decided track. Ridesafe was the result of irrational but worrisome late-night situation for Nishith while his sister was visiting Bangalore. It was later adopted by food tech companies to track deviations of their delivery staff.Nishith manages strategy and innovation at Locus and Geet manages the engineering and technology. They have operations in South-east Asia, Middle East, and North America with customers including Tata Group of companies, Urban Ladder, Lenskart, Licious, and Rollick, among others.
They raised $2.75 million in 2016 through series A funding and $4 million in 2018 through Pre-series B funding.
Locus was featured in the Top 100 Startups To Watch in 2017.
Locus was the winner of the 2017 Aegis Graham Bell Award in the Data Science category.
Nishith Rastogi was listed in the Forbes Asia ’30 Under 30’ in 2018.
