Luchino Visconti (officially known as Luchino Visconti di Modrone) was born on November 2, 1906, in Milan and passed away on March 17, 1976, in Rome. He was an Italian citizen who achieved recognition for his work as a filmmaker, stage director, screenwriter, writer, film director, and theatre director.
Visconti, also known as Count don Luchino Visconti di Modrone, earned prestigious awards such as Venice Film Festival's Golden Lion, David di Donatello Awards, and Nastro d'Argento for Best Director throughout his career. He was also recognized at the Cannes Film Festival.
Among the many notable works within his career, Visconti directed films such as Death in Venice, La Terra Trema, Bellissima, Rocco and His Brothers, and The Leopard. He was associated with the genre of Italian neorealism.
