In 1995, Mark Cuban and long-time friend Todd Wagner created Broadcast.com, a streaming internet audio company. They came up with an internet-based solution because they wanted to be able to listen to Hoosiers Basketball games remotely in Texas. After four years, they sold Broadcast.com (then Audionet) to Yahoo! for $5.6 billion. His trade to collar his shares of Yahoo! stock received in the sale of Broadcast.com in advance of the popping of the internet bubble has been called one of the top ten trades of all time.
Mark Cuban was an early entrepreneur, selling garbage bags door-to-door at age twelve. He graduated from Indiana University, and while in college he owned the most popular bar in town. After graduating, he moved to Dallas and started MicroSolutions, a computer consulting service. In 1990, he sold MicroSolutions to CompuServe.
