Mavenir’s communications platform as a service (CPaaS) is aimed at communications service providers (CSPs), system integrators (SIs), and channel partners who wish to offer communications services to businesses and developers of all sizes. With Mavenir's communications platform, CSPs can integrate services such as voice, video, and messaging into business applications and processes through application programming interfaces (APIs). This allows them to offer lower prices to clients while retaining a greater share of the revenue.
Since the CPaaS solution is operated on the the CSPs' networks, they can ensure reliability and customer support, as well as preserve economic efficiencies in the value chain. Moreover, Mavenir's CPaaS solution is white-label, meaning it can be branded by the client into their own offering.
In August 2021, Mavenir acquired Telestax Inc., which introduced CPaaS capabilities to the Mavenir suite of services by providing the company with a development framework to build real-time communications features, including software tools, standards-based application programming interfaces (APIs), sample code, and turnkey applications such as Smart Two-Factor Authentication (2FA), campaign manager, number masking, and call queuing.
According to Ian Maclean, senior vice president of Cloud Services at Mavenir, CPaaS is the key enabling technology for the company's Mavenir Engage offering. Mavenir Engage is Mavenir’s cloud-based messaging monetization and customer engagement offering that provides clients with RCS Business Messaging (RBM), messaging monetization capabilities, chatbots, campaign management, and access to different messaging ecosystems, such as Google RCS Business Messaging.
Guillaume Klein, vice president of product management at iBasis, commented that the partnership with Mavenir will enable the company to expand its CPaaS offering to telecommunication companies worldwide. The iBASIS offering ranges from voice, messaging, e-commerce, and direct access to call centers across finance, healthcare, government applications, and other industries.
Mavenir is part of an Open RAN (open radio access network) partner group established to provide more options and make it easy for operators to deploy cloud-based Open RAN solutions. Within the group, Mavenir's role is that of an end-to-end systems integrator. The company's goal is to simplify the engagement for operators and create an offering that can compete with traditional, hardware-centric proprietary vendors.
