Melville J. Herskovits (September 10, 1895 – February 25, 1963) was an American anthropologist and writer. Herskovits was born in Bellefontaine, Ohio and held citizenship in the United States. He was educated at Columbia University, where he received the guidance of his doctoral advisor, Franz Boas.
Herskovits died in Evanston, Illinois on February 25, 1963.
