Michel Houellebecq is a French writer, poet, film director, songwriter, novelist, screenwriter, actor, and essayist. He was born as Michel Thomas on February 26, 1956, in Saint-Pierre, Réunion, and holds French citizenship. He is known by the pseudonym Michel Houellebecq.
Houellebecq was educated at Lycée Chaptal and Institut national agronomique Paris Grignon. Throughout his career, he has worked in various genres, including essays, poetry, and novels. Some of his notable works include "Atomised", "The Possibility of an Island", and "The Map and the Territory". In the film industry, he directed the film adaptation of his novel "The Possibility of an Island". Additionally, Houellebecq authored the non-fiction work "H.P. Lovecraft: Against the World, Against Life".
