Mirror.xyz

Mirror.xyz is a decentralized blockchain and crypto-based publishing platform that allows writers to crowdfund their projects through the sale of NFTs. The company was founded by Denis Nazarov, a former partner at a16z crypto, in October 2020. The Mirror.xyz platform is built on Ethereum and allows writers to publish and make money off of their projects by selling them as non-fungible tokens.

In order to publish on the platform, interested writers must first possess a $Write token that can be earned by participating in Mirror.xyz's "$Write Race," a weekly contest to determine membership on the platform. Once this token is acquired, writers can crowdfund their projects on the platform, with backers being allowed to own a share of the piece's final value. Once a writer's work is ready to be published on Mirror.xyz, an NFT is created of the final product, which can be sold and purchased with Ethereum. Proponents of Mirror.xyz say that the platform will allow writers to retain the rights to their digital work, while also providing them with a censorship-free environment to publish on.

As of 2021, Mirror.xyz has participated in two seed financing rounds with Andreesen Horowitz and Union Square Ventures, raising at least $10 million across both rounds. Most recently, USV invested in Mirror.xyz at a valuation of $100 million in June 2021.
