Launched in 2019 by the Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Research, Development, and Acquisition, NavalX is staffed by both government civilians and military service members. Headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, NavalX hosts offices in 24twenty-four locations throughout the world, categorized as Tech Bridges and Centers for Adaptive Warfighting.
NavalX Tech Bridges are "collaboration ecosystems" created to increase collaboration, knowledge sharing, and innovation between the Navy and other military services, commercial companies, and academia. Tech Bridges offer collaboration spaces in a commercial setting (rather than on a military base), thereby allowing easier access to a wider rangerrange of partners, including commercial companies, state and local government, and academic institutions.
