Navigation is the process of controlling some object (having its own methods of movement) in a certain space of movement. The field of navigation includes four general categories: land navigation, maritime navigation, air navigation, and space navigation. All navigation methods involve determining the navigator's location compared to known locations or patterns.
Types of navigation
- Car navigation
- Astronomical navigation
- Bionavigation
- Air navigation
- Inertial navigation
- Information navigation
- Space navigation
- Maritime navigation
- Radio navigation
- Satellite navigation
- Underground navigation
- Geonavigation
Car navigation is a technology for calculating the optimal route for a vehicle on the roads and then guiding it along the route with visual and voice prompts for maneuvers. Uses satellite navigation, inertial navigation, computer vision, information from mobile phones, the car navigation map and operational information about traffic jams.
Astronomical navigation is a method of determining the coordinates of ships and aircraft, based on the use of radio emission or light radiation of celestial bodies.
Bionavigation is the ability of animals to choose the direction of movement during regular seasonal migrations.
Air navigation is the science of accurate, reliable and safe airborne navigation of aircraft.
Inertial navigation is a method of navigation and control of their motion, based on the properties of the inertia of bodies, which is autonomous, that is, it does not require external reference points or signals coming from the outside.
Information navigation is the process of navigating a user through logically related data.
Space navigation is the control of the motion of a spacecraft.
Maritime navigation is a part of navigation, studying ship navigation, developing theoretical substantiation and practical methods of driving ships.
Radio navigation is navigation by means of radio equipment and devices.
Satellite navigation is the use of satellite navigation (GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou) to determine the location and direction of movement.
Underground navigation is the use of various measuring instruments to determine the location and direction of movement of underground tunneling complexes.
Geosteering is controlling the drilling process in order to orient the borehole in a given interval of the rock formation.
