Ngaio Marsh (born Edith Ngaio Marsh) was a New Zealand writer, playwright, theatre director, novelist, and screenwriter. She was born on April 23, 1895, in Christchurch, New Zealand, and completed her education at the University of Canterbury. Marsh specialized in the detective fiction genre, and held citizenship in New Zealand.
