Russian mathematician
Nikolai Bugaev (1837-1903) was a mathematician and philosopher born in Dusheti, a town in present-day Georgia, which was at the time part of the Russian Empire. He passed away in Moscow. Bugaev is also known as the father of the Russian Symbolist poet, Andrei Bely.
Throughout his career, Bugaev was guided by the German mathematician Karl Weierstrass, who served as his doctoral advisor. His primary interests and contributions lay in the fields of mathematics and philosophy.
