Niranjan Shah

Niranjan Shah is the co-founder, chairman, and CEO of Globetrotters Engineering Corporation. He is also the founder of Globetrotters International Inc.

Both Globetrotters Engineering Corporation and Globetrotters International Inc. are Chicago-based engineering, architecture, consulting services, and construction management companies. Shah founded both firms in 1974 and worked as the company’s first employee. As of March 2020, Globetrotters employs over 250 professionals and has overseen hundreds of millions of dollars in projects since its founding.

Under his leadership, Globetrotters worked on projects such as John Stroger Jr. Hospital, the McCormick Place expansion, Midway International Airport’s redevelopment, and O’Hare Airport’s International Terminal 5. In 1986, the company received an Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement Award for its work on the Deep Tunnel Project in Chicago.


Shah was born in India and earned a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Sardel Patel University’s Birla Engineering College. He then attended the University of Mississippi School of Business, where he earned a Master of Civil Engineering degree in 1971. He also participated in the Executive Education Program at Harvard Business School, where he received technical business management training.

Since founding Globetrotters, Niranjan Shah has become involved in giving back to the community through philanthropic endeavors. He is involved with the Shah Center at McHenry County College, Leading India’s Future Today (LIFT), and Sister Cities Internationals. In 2006, Shah received the Ellis Island Medal of Honor in acknowledgement of his positive contribution to U.S. society. That same year, the government of India presented him with the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award. In addition, Shah is passionate about philanthropy and has donated to a wide array of organizations. Shah's family honors Mahatama Ghandi with an annual luncheon.
