In 2006, Shah received the Ellis Island Medal of Honor in acknowledgement of his positive contribution to U.S. society. That same year, the government of India presented him with the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award. In addition, Shah is very passionate about philanthropy and has donated to a wide array of organizations he is passionate about. In fact, Shah remembers the first time he's heardfamily ofhonors Mahatama Ghandi's death at 4 years old. Today, his family honors Ghandi with an annual luncheon.

Shah founded both firms in 1974 and worked as the company’s first employee.
