Paul Samuelson was an economist born on May 15, 1915, in Gary, Indiana . He held citizenship in the United States , where he also lived . Samuelson received his education from Hyde Park Academy High School , the University of Chicago , and Harvard University . His academic discipline focused on macroeconomics .
Samuelson died on December 13, 2009, in Belmont, Massachusetts . He was the doctoral advisee of Wassily Leontief and went on to advise several doctoral students, including Robert C. Merton, Lawrence Klein, Thomas Vietorisz, and Margaret Garritsen de Vries .
