ProGlove is a company established in 2014 by Alexander Grots, Jonas Girardet, Manuel Boenisch, Paul Günther, and Thomas Kirchner. The company develops smart industrial gloves for barcode reading. It is based in Munich, Germany.
ProGlove’s gloves are called MARK 2. MARK 2 gloves are intended to be used in industrial settings requiring employees to scan bar codes, such as inventory management work. All MARK 2 gloves are equipped with a removable bar code reader. MARK 2 gloves come in several forms: standard glove, index trigger gloves, and palm trigger gloves. The latter two are designed to be ergonomic, lowering the risk of injury due to repetitive stress on only one finger. The gloves are also categorized into several types based on their range capability: mid-range, standard range, and basic. Mid-range gloves are able to read barcodes located up to 150 cm away from the wearer, while standard range gloves are capable of reading them up to 80 cm. Basic gloves require wearers to move as close as possible to read the barcodes.
Since 2014, ProGlove has managed to raise $49.1 million in capital from six funding rounds. It started a Series B round in September 2019. ProGlove’s past investors were Summit Partners, Bayern Kapital, Intel Capital, and GETTYLAB.
