Pure Watercraft is a company that produces eco-friendly electric boats. The company was founded in 2011 by Andy Rebele and Kerwin Loukusa. Rebele is also the company's CEO.
Pure Watercraft produces electric outboard motors and electric boats. Pure Watercraft's boats are designed to disturb the surrounding environment as little as possible.
Pure Watercraft's outboard motors are electric and have silent propulsion, which helps to prevent noise pollution that is common with normal boats. The motors produce zero emissions and require zero maintenance, due to the fully-sealed motor design. The motor is powered by a rapid charging lithium ion battery. Battery packs can be combined in Pure Watercraft's modular battery pack system that, through different hull placements, can give the boat maximum power. Its throttle has GPS capability with enabled automatic updates to improve functionality over time. Pure Outboard motor systems can be purchased and used on other boats.
Pure Watercraft designs rigid inflatable (RIB) and pontoon boats. Boats are purchasable as packages, which includes the boat's basic battery packs, power cables, and more. The company's website also shows its Pure Outboard motor system outfitted onto a coaching launch and a bass boat.
On November 22, 2021, General Motors acquired a 25% stake in Pure Watercraft for $150 million. GM's interest in Pure Watercraft was piqued by the company's eco-friendly approach and zero emissions goal.
