Compagnie Financière Richemont, also known as Richemont, is a Switzerland-based luxury goods holding company that produces and sells jewelry, watches, leather goods, writing instruments, clothing, accessories, and firearms through its various subsidiaries. The company's stated mission is "to craft the future by nurturing the distinctive craftsmanship, innovative spirit and creative inspiration of our people...to create long term value for all our stakeholders...through the long term profitable and responsible growth of our Maisons and businesses." Richemont was founded in 1988 by Johann Rupert and is headquartered in Bellevue, Switzerland. Richemont is publicly traded as CFR on the SIX Swiss Exchange and the JSE Securities Exchange. In 2017, Richemont was the third-largest luxury goods company in the world, after LVMH and Estée Lauder Companies.
Richemont is a conglomerate of twenty-six subsidiary brands, referred to as maisons, encompassing several prestigious names in the luxury industry, as well as online distributors. Its maisons include Buccellati, Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, A. Lange & Söhne, Baume et Mercier, International Watch Company (IWC), Jaeger-LeCoultre, Panerai, Piaget, Roger Dubuis, Vacheron Constantin, Watchfinder & Co., Net-a-Porter, Mr. Porter, The Outnet, Yoox, Alaïa, Chloé, AZ Factory, Delvaux, Dunhill, Montblanc, Peter Millar, Purdey, and Serapian. Richemont's jewelry and watch brands account for over 70% of sales. Its jewelry Maisons, including Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels, account for 56% of revenue and over 95% of profits.
