Scaleway was founded in 1999 as a hosting company and part of the Iliad telecommunications group owned by Xavier Niel. The company was originally known as Online SAS and Online.net before it expanded to offering cloud, hosting, and colocation services. The company is headquartered in Paris, with additional offices in Amsterdam and Warsaw. Scaleway also works to ensure the company's data centers are powered by renewable energy with native tools for managing multi-cloud architectures.
