He then went on to start his own company, called NET1 Products PTY LTD (now called Net1 Technologies) in 1989. His work with Net1 Technologies included creating the Fund Transfer System (FTS) and Universal Electronic Payment System (EUPSUEPS). These proprietary technologies have changed the face of payment processing and acted as the catalyst for blockchain technology. He built the Chip Offline Pre-authorized Card (COPAC) for Visa using a fusion of his FTS and EUPSUEPS technologies.
After graduating, Belamant joined SASWITCH and helped with the major transition to a new computing system and ATM changeover. This major move helped provide monetary access to millions of South Africans facing potential economic collapse. He was able to secure a contract in Europe that allowed SASWITCH to utilize a new computing system based on Stratus synchronous computers for the RSA banks.
