Southern Federal University (also known as SFedU) is a Russia-based non-profit public university. It is located in the southern part of Russia between the cities of Rostov-on-Don and Taganrog. It was established in 1915 and is one of ten federal universities in Russia. In 2010, the university became an autonomous educational institution. The university has more than 45,000 people enrolled, and students must take an entrance exam before being considered for acceptance.
SFedU offers courses for bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees. There are dozens of areas of study that are offered at the university, including mathematics, biotechnology, engineering, sociology, journalism, and tourism. Prospective students must first pass an entrance exam before acceptance into the university. There is a minimum score needed for each exam, and most of the exams have a Russian language requirement.
The university also acts as a research center and conducts interdisciplinary research in a range of fields, such as natural sciences, engineering, and humanities. Research has been on specific areas of study, including artificial intelligence, biomedicine, and physics.
