Stand Together Ventures Lab (STVL) is a social-impact venture capital firm investing in companies focused on education, criminal justice, healthcare, immigration, and free speech. Based in Arlington, Virginia, the firm invests in early-stage startups operating in the education, healthcare, and technology sectors.
The nonprofit venture capital team invests money from the Stand Together Foundation, which offers resources to community-based organizations in order to assist in breaking cycles of poverty. The umbrella organization for the Lab and the foundation, Stand Together, is located at 1320 N. Courthouse Road in Courthouse and was founded by businessman Charles Koch. In 2020, the lab assessed 140 startups and picked four: JusticeText, Risekit, Shift, and an unnamed fledgling company. Typical checks range from $100,000 to $1 million, depending on the age of the company and the needs of a founder.
Stand Together Ventures Lab—or STV Lab—is a shared brand of STVL3, LLC and STVL6, LLC, which invest in early growth stage ventures. They may work together with Stand Together Ventures but are not affiliated. STLV is the venture capital arm of Stand Together, a non-profit organization finding ways to remove barriers in education, business, communities, and government. The firm's advisory partners include Prepared Parents, Recidiviz and Skillup.
