Stanislaw Ulam was a mathematician born on April 13, 1909, in Lviv . He held dual citizenship in both Poland and the United States . Ulam received his education at Lviv Polytechnic . He was a founder of the Manhattan Project and passed away on May 13, 1984, in Santa Fe, New Mexico .
Ulam was guided by his doctoral advisor, Kazimierz Kuratowski , and he advised doctoral student Paul Kelly, a mathematician . Ulam was known for numerous notable works, including the Borsuk–Ulam theorem , Monte Carlo method , and Ulam spiral . He also made significant contributions to the fields of mathematics through the Mazur–Ulam theorem , Ulam number , and Hyers–Ulam–Rassias stability .
