Lightlytics offers a platform that enables users to gain insight into the general performance of cloud-based services for troubleshooting and problem-prevention purposes, focusing on security, stability, and speed of operation. The company utilizes a proprietary processing engine called CloudTwin that simulates a model of the cloud environment in real time and dynamically correlates the dependencies between configurations, services, infrastructure, and activity logs.
This enables users to see how cloud configurations and dependencies influence the behavior of a cloud environment, allowing them to carry out troubleshooting tasks across all cloud layers and assets (such as accounts).
The platform's analytics are presented to users in the form of a graphic interface that holds configuration history, traffic logs, state, and all dependencies, and it can be queried for specific results. Using this interface, users can review all resources present in the cloud environment and perform searches by attributes. Dependencies may be analyzed across cloud accounts with all network and permissions paths.
In terms of change-tracking, users are able to review the time at which the change occurred, who performed the activity, its execution source, the affected resources, and the impact it had on the cloud environment. With each event, one can review advanced visual correlation analysis of the configurations that changed and the direct impact on their posture. Then, the availability, security, compliance, and cost impacts of each event can be understood.
The Lightlytics platform has the following uses:
- Identification of the availability, security, and connectivity impact of proposed cloud configuration changes prior to deployment
- Application of configuration changes without causing disturbances in the wider system
- Acceleration and simplification of the Terraform plan analysis
- Identification of changes that may pose a high risk
- Prediction of potential availability issues that may cause disturbance and result in downtime
- Testing of changes against best practices on security, compliance, cost, availability, and collective knowledge
- Estimation of impact on reachability, network connectivity, exposure paths, accessibility, and validation of adherence to the user's intention
- Automatic tracking of changes against the runtime activity
- Elimination of downtime at the pull request stages of Terraform code
The Lightlytics simulation engine works by merging the current configuration state of the cloud environment with the change proposed in Terraform code to determine how the environment will be affected by the new code before it is deployed. The platform can be integrated into a variety of workflows via webhook into an existing IaC (infrastructure as code) deployment flow or run in the midst of development in an IDE (integrated development environment) of the user's choice, such as Terraform Cloud, Jenkins, Atlantis, GitHub, or Webhook.
Full access to the platform is offered via a twenty-one-day trial, following which users can choose to move to a Free, Pro, or Enterprise plan. The Free plan comes at no cost and offers users limited access to the platform. The Pro plan costs $750 per month and offers full access to the platform as well as chat support. The Enterprise plan is a custom pricing plan for specific, large-scale needs and comes with around-the-clock support and several extra features over the Pro plan.
Lightlytics named its free option "Treemium," as it combines the attributes of a typical product trial (full feature access for a limited time) and a typical freemium service (limited feature access without time restrictions). It also incorporates a tree-planting campaign whereby a tree is planted for every activated user. A referral option is also available as part of the campaign. Every activated user receives five referral codes that can be turned into a tree certificate upon activation.
