Swiss Post is a Bern, Switzerland-based logistics and supply chain company. It was formed when the long established, state-owned PTT, (Postal Telegraph and Telephone) was dissolved in 1998. The Swiss Post is a public company owned by the Swiss Confederation, though it is not subsidized by the public sector in the same way as other public service providers.
The firm operates in communication, logistics, retail, financial, or passenger transport markets and has subsidiaries in Liechtenstein,Italy, France, UK, Singapore and Vietnam.The notable investment portfolio of Swiss Post includes Beekeeper, Guuru, Matternet, Metaco, MOTIONTAG, ONO, Starship Technologies, TestingTime. Swiss Post acquired Pitney Bowes Management Services in May, 2013. As of February 2020, Swiss Post has made nine investments.
The Swiss Post is structured as a group company with six units: PostMail, PostalNetwork, PostLogistics, PostFinance, PostBus, and Swiss Post Solutions. PostMail takes care of letters, and PostLogistics delivers parcels. PostalNetwork is the operational team; Swiss Post Solutions provides document management services. PostBus is the transportation unit. PostFinance is responsible for all financial business. The Swiss Post employs over 50,000 people and is the country's second largest employer.
