ThoughtSpot is a search-engine based, business intelligence platform (pb). It was established in 2012 by Shashank Gupta, Ajeet Singh, Priyendra Deshwal, Sanjay Agrawal, Abhishek Rai, Amit Prakash, and Vijay Ganesan. It aims to provide a platform that can generate analytical reports based on large datasets. It is headquartered in Sunnyvale, California, United States.

ThoughtSpot’s platform allows individuals to generate reports by inputting their query through ThoughtSpot’s search engine. The query is natural language-based, thus allowing any individual with access to the platform to create a custom analytics report based on the existing datasets. The generated reports are shown in the form of graphs, which can be customized based on the user’s need. The platform is available both as installed software and a cloud-based platform, alongside additional support through a mobile application. The platform is intended for use by businesses who need to generate reports based on large amounts of data, ranging from those in the retail industry to government institutions.

Since the company’s founding year, ThoughtSpot has raised a funding total of $543.7 million through seven funding rounds. ThoughtSpot most recently held a Series E in August 2019, collecting $248 million. Past investors who have provided financing for ThoughtSpot include Silver Lake Waterman, Lightspeed Venture Partners, Khosla Ventures, and Sapphire Ventures.
