Ursa Major Technologies is a Colorado-based technology company with a focus on designing and manufacturing propulsion solutions for microsatellites and nanosatellites. It operates in both the commercial and defense sectors. Its products are intended to be used by aerospace startups that are looking to outsource the production of its engines rather than spending the time, energy, and money by making them on-site. It has created partnerships with at least two aerospace startups, Generation Orbit and ABL Space Systems.
The company has designed two engines by the names of Hadley and Ripley. The latter is a result of an evolution of the former and both are combustion engines. Hadley is a 5,000-pound-force liquid oxygen and kerosene engine capable of launching various vehicles into the orbital and suborbital zones around Earth. It consists of integrated fluid controls and electronic subsystems. Ripley varies from Hadley in that it is a 35,000-pound engine that provides a boost propulsion solution for vehicles intended for space orbit.
