Wally Schirra (March 12, 1923 – May 3, 2007) was born in Hackensack, New Jersey and was a citizen of the United States. Schirra held various occupations including United States Naval Aviator, astronaut, test pilot, aircraft pilot, and businessperson.
Schirra received his education from New Jersey Institute of Technology, United States Naval Academy, United States Naval Test Pilot School, and Dwight Morrow High School.
Throughout his career, Wally Schirra received numerous awards, such as the Air Medal, NASA Distinguished Service Medal, NASA Exceptional Service Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic–Pacific Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal (United States), Navy Occupation Service Medal, China Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, Korean War Service Medal, and Navy Astronaut Wings.
Wally Schirra passed away on May 3, 2007, in La Jolla.
