WebEx is a developer of a platform for on-demand collaboration, online meetings, web conferencing, and videoconferencing applications. This includes integrated telephone and web-based audio and video services using standard devices. The platform also offers customer experience solutions, including a contact center and purpose-built collaboration devices.
WebEx was founded in 1995 and had the company's Initial Public Offering in July 2000. On March 15, 2007, Cisco Systems came to an agreement to acquire WebEx for approximately $3.2 billion. WebEx's customers have included T-Mobile, AT&T, Under Armour, Broadcom, PUMA, and Paychex.
Built for small businesses, the Webex app allows users to call, meet, and message from a single application. The app allows for incoming and outgoing calls for colleagues and customers in an integrated cloud phone system, offers video meeting software that is built to minimize interruptions and amplify voices, and offers messaging for internal and external teams with features including file sharing and whiteboarding.
The Webex app also includes artificial intelligence (AI) to help users automate tasks in the app. The AI also removes distractions and background noise from meetings to help users be heard. And users can have real-time translation of more than one hundred languages and post-meeting transcriptions.
Built for enterprises, the Webex Suite is developed for business collaboration and hybrid work. The platform offers users the following features:
- Calling across various devices with a cloud phone system
- Meetings similar to those offered through the Webex app
- Messaging services for users that include secure file sharing and whiteboarding
- Polling to help ensure participation in meetings and events
- Interactive question and answer sessions
- Webinar delivery services to help users develop and deliver content across enterprises.
- Tools for the development of events, be they virtual, in-person, or hybrid events with multi-track agendas, ticketing, attendee networking, and analytics for the event providers
- Whiteboarding services to share whiteboarding solutions with workers across the platform

Webex Connect is WebEx's communications platform as a service (CPaaS) developed to be easy-to-use and programmable for IT teams and to help reduce complexity and cost for enterprises. The platform is developed to offer a secure and compliant enterprise-grade CPaaS capable of working on deployment with tools and controls to help enterprises control the customer experience. The platform allows enterprises to develop specific "customer journeys" to provide similar customer experiences across communication channels to help them build customer relationships.
Webex Connect offers users APIs, low-code tools, and pre-built capabilities to help enterprises deploy the platform and build upon the platform with ease and to build and configure the customer journeys faster, and with greater consistency across an enterprise. The Webex Connect platform is designed to be used by developers and includes a developer sandbox with APIs and capabilities such as a flow builder, debugging, and reporting. The platform also includes a video API and SDK to help users customize their video experience.
Built for the Webex Connect platform, and from the imimobile Customer Interaction Management suite of products, WebEx offers CPaaS applications including the following:
- Webex Campaign—helps users create and automate multichannel marketing campaigns
- Webex Engage—helps contact centers and supports them through customer conversations
- Webex Assist—gives users remote video assistance anywhere and on any device

WebEx's Customer Experience platform is developed to provide organizations an end-to-end solution for customer experience, including offering various channels for customer interactions and tools to help enterprises unify the experience across customer channels. This includes the Webex Contact Center, which offers enterprises the tools and support necessary to give customers a quick and consistent experience; the Webex Contact Center AI Solution suite, which offers various artificially intelligent solutions to help agents satisfy customer concerns; and a Webex Experience Manager, which gives enterprises data for the steps of a customer journey.
