WhyLabs is a Seattle-based AI observability company that creates a cloud-agnostic platform for model and data monitoring. The company was co-founded in 2019 by Amazon Machine Learning alums Alessya Visnjic, Sam Gracie and Andy Dang, along with former Cloudflare executive Maria Karaivanova. Visnjic has served as WhyLabs CEO since its inception. The company was incubated at the Allen Institute for AI and is a privately-held, venture-funded company.
WhyLabs's cloud-agnostic platform, called whylogs, allows businesses to collect statistics, performance data, and metrics from any part of a machine learning (ML) system. Companies can use whylogs to analyze input data and model outputs, see how model features evolve over time, and catch data quality issues. Whylogs is compatible with AI pipelines running on Python, Java, or Spark, and is scalable to terabytes of data.
In September 2020, WhyLabs raised a $4 million seed round from the Allen Institute for AI, as well as Ascend.vc, Bezos Expeditions, Defy.vc and Madrona Venture Group.
