X-energy is an advanced nuclear reactornuclear reactor design and tristructural-isotropic (TRISO) based fuel fabrication company. Their objective is to incorporate innovative design features with the goal of building a game-changing, small-scale nuclear energy source that can be adapted to a variety of markets. X-energy reactors aim to be a disruptive technology in the global power-generating market as it produces zero emissions, allows for size flexibility, can serve nontraditional markets, and is economically attractive.

X-energy was founded in 2009 by Dr. Kam Ghaffarian to innovative and implement energy solutions that are clean, safe, secure and affordable. The company is based in Rockville, MarylandRockville, Maryland. In January 2019, J. Clay Sell was appointed CEO of X-Energy, a former deputy secretary of the US Department of Energy (2005-2008) and Special Advisor to President George W. Bush (2003-2005).
