Yu Pan

Yu Pan is a San Francisco-based engineer who has also founded several artificial intelligence start-up companies. He has a Bachelors of Science degree in computer science from the University of Illinois.

Pan was a founding engineer at PayPal in 1999. He stayed with the company for more than five years until he became the chief technology officer (CTO) at Adzaar. In 2005, Pan transitioned to working at YouTube as a senior software engineer where he developed embedded video player, which is used on the site. After close to five years at YouTube, he left the company to found his own start-up along with Yael Pasternak Valek and Sandra Oh Lin. The company is called KiwiCo, Incorporated and is a subscription service for activities for kids.

In 2013, Pan left KiwiCo and took another senior software engineer position at Affirm, Incorporated until he moved to 8i in 2015 to act as CTO. Following 8i, Pan worked at MobiSocial as vice president of research. As of 2019, he is a research engineer at Origin Protocol.
