Temu is an e-commerce company that has developed a platform and app to connect consumers with merchandisers.
Temu is an organization that operates as a company in the software industry.
Temu is an e-commerce company that has a marketplace for extremely discounted goods and products. It is an offshoot of Pinduoduo, an online marketplace for consumers in China. Both companies are owned by PDD Holdings. Temu was launched in the United States in 2022 and has since been launched in other countries including Spain, the United Kingdom, France, Chile, and Malaysia.
To sign up with Temu, users can go to the website in their browsers or download the app. Users can register by entering their email or phone number or by connecting through their Google, Facebook, X, or Apple accounts. Users can scroll through the landing page to see sales and items on clearance. They can also shop according to category, such as home and kitchen, clothing, automotive, electronics, etc. If the user is shopping for a specific product, there is a search bar option available as well.
Temu also has pop-up games to incentivize users into purchasing items. One such game is a spinning wheel where users can stop the spinning wheel by clicking on it. They receive a digital prize, such as a coupon or a discount. The prizes are often tied to terms and conditions, such as having to promote the app in order to receive the prize.
Unlike its competitors, Temu does not have overnight shipping. The website states that it can take between five to 35 days to receive orders, depending on if the buyer has elected for express shipping. Temu states that goods and products are shipped directly from the source, which is normally in China, thus eliminating the need for a complex and more costly supply chain and contributing to the reason that goods can be purchased for such great discounts on Temu.
Temu has affiliate and influencer programs as part of their marketing efforts. Anyone can sign up for the affiliate program and share Temu links or codes. If someone else uses those links or codes, the affiliate receives commission, which is capped at $100,000 per month. Affiliates can also receive bonuses for each new signup and login to the platform that comes from one of their links.
For the influencer program, content creators can apply and share information about their platforms, such as the number of followers they have and the engagement metrics on the account. If approved, the content creator can receive free products from Temu and they are expected to create content with those products and share them with their audience.
Since its launch in 2022, there have been several allegations and lawsuits against Temu. A federal class action lawsuit was filed against Temu in November 2023 alleging that the company and app violates the privacy rights of its customers by collecting excessive amounts of data. The lawsuit also alleges that according to several reviews of the app (including one conducted by an independent expert), there are malware and spyware tools that are included in the app and thus included with every download. A separate class action lawsuit was also filed in New York in September 2023 and also alleges violations of customers' privacy.
Also in 2023, Temu was accused by a United States House committee of using forced labor, specifically from the Xinjiang region in China. The region is home to a large Uyghurs population who are faced with imprisonment and other abuses due to their religion (Islam) and being an ethnic minority in China. It is alleged that during imprisonment, the Uyghurs and other ethnic minorities are forced to do labor including picking cotton and making clothing for companies such as Temu. Temu denies these allegations.
Furthermore, Temu is not accredited by the Better Business Bureau (BBB). Based on customer reviews on the BBB website, Temu has 2.5/5 stars and more than 1,700 customer complaints have been filed since 2022. Complaints are filed for reasons such as not receiving products, cancelled orders, and refunds not being fulfilled.

Fortnite is an online role player game (RPG) where participants compete in a battle royale style. It is a free game that was developed by Epic Games. The idea for the game began being developed in 2011 by the former design director of the company, but there were delays in the development of the game due to various issues, such as funding.
The first version of Fortnite, Fortnite: Save the World, was officially launched in 2017 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and personal computers (PCs) and it was not very successful with players and critics. Epic Games released the next version of the game, Fortnite Battle Royale, just a few weeks after the first game. As a free online game in a very popular genre, battle royale, the game was a massive success with millions of players downloading game within weeks. Epic Games continues to release updates and different versions of the games, titling versions of subtle changes as "seasons" and larger changes as "chapters".
The lore of Fortnite is based on a structure of an infinite loop, meaning the story will just start again once it seems to be at its end. The game is ever-evolving and the setting (the island) and the characters are continuously changing with every update, new season, and new chapter. Unlike other video games, the lore in Fortnite is more based on storylines that are being developed rather than a complex backstory.
Fortnite is available to be played on various consoles and systems but is not available in the Google Play store nor the Apple App Store due to Epic Games installing its own payment system for in-game purchases rather than using the stores and having to share 30% of the revenue. However, the game can still be downloaded directly from the Fortnite website for devices that use the Android operating system.
The game can be played on a PC and users would need to use their keyboards and other PC hardware to play the game. When using consoles, such as a PlayStation or Xbox, players can use the accompanying hardware to play the game. Given the social interaction of the game, it is also suggested that players use a headset to communicate with other players.
Players can create their own avatar for the game by choosing the avatar's gender, clothing, dance moves, etc. Players are placed in a "lobby" where they are kept until they choose the mode in which they want to play which are:
After choosing the game mode, players are transported from the lobby to the "Battle Bus", which is a school bus flying through the air as it is attached to a hot air balloon. Players need to jump from the bus to get onto the island, which is slowsly shrinking, and play the game. The players gather weapons and build structures to fight and eliminate each other from the game until there is only one player fighting one other player to win their place on the island (depending on which game mode was chosen). Weapons and characters are often added or eliminated and the setting itself changes throughout the seasons and chapters, but the basic premise is for the player to fight until they are the last one on the island.
As of February 2024, there are 28 seasons of Fortnite with seasons lasting anywhere from 50 to 128 days.
In addition to being a video game, Fortnite is known for being a virtual space for both entertainment and socializing. Epic Games has entered into collaborations with major brands, such as Nike, Ferrari, and Disney, to temporarily integrate them into Fortnite. Other collaborations include characters from TV shows and franchises, such as Marvel's Avengers, John Wick, and Peter Griffin from Family Guy. Entertainers have also appeared in the game as part of collaboration, some of whom are John Cena, Eminem, and Lewis Hamilton.
There are live events that take place in the Fortnite world, which adds to the social element of the game. Some of the live events are to reveal major new elements to the game and other a virtual versions of live events that have in the past only been in-person, like concerts from Ariana Grande and Eminem. There are also tournaments in which players can participate, some of which have grand prizes of $3,000,000.
