1QBit (1QB) aims to leverage the optimal use of computing power at all points along the trajectory as quantum technology changes computing design. 1QBit, founded by entrepreneurs and researchers, is working to move quantum computing from theory to application. The company attracts global talent in the areas of mathematics, engineering, physics, chemistry, operations research and software development.
QBit CEO and co-founder Andre Fursman explained their company’s niche in this quote in CanTech Letter, “What QBit has done is act as a bridge between technology at the fundamental level, the new hardware that’s being produced, and the real world applications,” further saying that new generations of quantum computing hardware will solve large problems in industries like finance and biology.
1QBit’s partners’ applications are built on their API in their preferred programming language. The API uses their internal software development kit (SDK) which is able to solve NP-complete problems using both classical and quantum hardware. 1QBit researchers develop novel algorithms and techniques, adding them to the platform so that partners can make use of new advances without making updates to their applications. New versions of hardware are release and added and then accessed by their partners applications built on 1QBit API.
1QB investors include the Chicago Mecantile Exchange, local peer D-Wace Systems and the Royal Bank of Scotland. Microsoft Quantum announced new collaboration with 1QBit in 2018. 1QBit will have access to Microsoft’s Quantum Development Kit and resources that come with the Microsoft for Startups program.
1QBit was named a global Technology Pioneer by The World Economic Forum in 2015, recognizing their leadership and ability to impact the world.
