Boris Delaunay

Boris Delaunay was a mathematician and professor born on March 3, 1890, in Saint Petersburg . He held citizenship in the Soviet Union . Delaunay was educated at Moscow State University and Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv . His doctoral advisor was Aleksandr Kotelnikov .

Delaunay supervised several doctoral students, including Igor Shafarevich , Alexandre Mikhailovich Vinogradov , Aleksandr Danilovich Aleksandrov , Isaak Yaglom , and Dmitry Konstantinovich Faddeev . He had a child named Nikolai Borisovich Delone .

He is known for his notable works in Delaunay triangulation and Delone sets . Boris Delaunay received multiple awards, including the Order of the Red Banner of Labour , Order of Lenin , Medal "For Valiant Labor in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945" , and the title of Master of Sports of the USSR .

Boris Delaunay passed away on July 17, 1980, in Moscow .
