Carl Ferdinand Cori was born on December 5, 1896, in Prague and became a prominent biochemist, physician, and chemist. He studied at both Charles University and Leipzig University. At the time, his country of citizenship was Austria-Hungary and later Czechoslovakia, before finally becoming a citizen of the United States.
During his career, Cori contributed significantly to the field of biochemistry. He was under the guidance of Otto Loewi as his doctoral advisor and, in turn, was the doctoral supervisor for Arthur Kornberg.
Carl Ferdinand Cori passed away in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on October 20, 1984. Over the course of his career, he received many accolades, most notable being the 1947 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine.
