Entropica’s goals include addressing computational needs within life sciences and accelerating precision medicine through the development of tools for genomic analysis and bioinformatics. Entropica develops software for determining how DNA variations lead to phenotypes such as adverse drug reactions or disease for the use by researchers in the pharmaceutical area. The company has future plans to use their software to discover novel therapeutics in-house. Besides healthcare, Entropica statistical analysis and machine learning software for genomics research also has applications in agritech for the development of productive crops.
Entropica Labs is developing software tools and variational quantum algorithms for optimisation and statistical learning and aims to use both quantum computing and AI. Two software tools offered by Entropica are a Quantum Approximate Optimization Algorithm Library and the Quantum Machine Learning Lab (QML). The QML Lab is their platform to experiment and understand Quantum Machine Learning algorithms.
Entropica was founded by Centre for Quantum Technologies (CQT) of Singapore alumni Ewan Munro and Tommaso Demarie. Demarie is a physicist with a PhD from Macquarie University, Sydney and Munro has a PhD from the Centre for Quantum Technologies at the National University of Singapore. Munro previously worked on modeling and computational simulations of quantum optical systems.
The start-up was established with funding from Singapore’s Entrepreneur First programme and as of 2018 has support from SG Innovate (Singapore) and the Creative Destruction Lab (Toronto, Canada). Entropica partnered with Rigetti, a US hardware company in 2018, which gives them access to advanced quantum processors.
