Ernst & Young, or EY, is an international organization providing assurance, tax, transaction, and advisory services. Ernest & Young is a global organization that encompasses one or more of the member firms of Ernst & Young Global Limited. The company provides assurance, tax, transaction, and advisory services.
Ernst & Young is an accounting firm that dates back to the early twentieth century. Arthur Young, a Scotsman, and Alwin Ernst, an American, founded their separate companies in 1906 and 1903, respectively. Both companies merged in 1989 to form Ernst & Young. The company provides audit, tax, business risk, technology and security risk services, and human capital services around the world, in about 150 countries.
Before the merge at the time, Arthur Young's clients were mainly investment banks and high-tech firms on the east and west coasts, while Ernst & Whinney had mainly healthcare and manufacturing industry clients concentrated in the Midwest and South. Internationally, Arthur Young's clients were in Europe, while Ernst & Whinney established themselves in the Pacific Rim countries.

- Assurance services: EY's assurance services include audit, financial accounting advisory services (FAAS), and forensic and integrity services to address risk and complexity during opportunity identification in the capital markets. It involves corporate strategy, capital allocation, and transaction advisory. EY also helps clients introduce products and innovation to market.
- Tax: The company has competencies in business tax, international tax, and transactional tax. Their tax professionals offer assistance in identifying solutions for tax-related services associated with people, compliance, reporting, and law.
