Glencore is a company that operates to provide commodities such as minerals, textiles, grains, and fine metals. The company was founded by Marc Rich in 1978, in Baar, Zug, Switzerland.
The company operates on a global scale and looks to provide natural resources for the purposes of modern technologies such as electric vehicles and smartphones. Some of the resources Glencore works with includes copper, cobalt, nickel, zinc, lead, ferroalloys, coal, oil and more.
Glencore provides recycling for copper and other precious metals. They offer sampling and value determination, smelting and refining, and marketing to industrial customers. Their smelter is located in Sudbury, Canada, and their refineries are in Kristiansan, Norway. The capabilities that Glencore offers include technical capabilities to make adaptable material that can treat complex materials.
The company is also one of North America's largest processors of electronic scrap metals due to their Horne smelter in Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec. They produce a copper anode which is then shipped to Montreal to be converted into copper cathodes at the Canadian Copper Refinery. Gold and silver are also refined into dore here.
