John I of Portugal, born on April 11, 1358, in Lisbon, was the founder of the Portuguese Empire. Known as John of Aviz, he was also a politician. John I's parents were Peter I of Portugal and Teresa Lourenço. He held the nationality and country of citizenship of Portugal.
