Mathematician
Pierre Deligne is a mathematician born on October 3, 1944, in Etterbeek, Belgium. He holds Belgian citizenship and is currently based in the United States. Deligne was educated at the Free University of Brussels. Alexander Grothendieck served as his doctoral advisor.
Deligne has guided several doctoral students, including Miles Reid, Michael Rapoport, and Lê Dũng Tráng.
Throughout his career, Deligne has been recognized for his contributions to the field of mathematics. In 1978, he was awarded the Fields Medal, and in 2013, he received the Abel Prize.
