Established in 2008 and headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden, Sinch is a cloud communications company. The company offers mobile developers a way to include communication into their apps. Sinch's platform allows developers to integrate voice, SMS, verification, IM, and video into their applications. The company launched with $12 million in funding and is based in both Stockholm and San Francisco.
Previously known as CLX Communications, CLX refers to the Roman numerals for 160, which is the maximum number of characters in a text. By offering application program interfaces (APIs), the company allows developers to integrate their apps.
Cofounder Robert Gerstmann stated,
“We reduce complexity for the business so it can reach, say, 5 billion consumers globally, and we reduce complexity for the mobile operators so that they can work via Sinch with thousands of enterprises across national borders. Any person with a handset is reachable by business across all mobile channels.”
Sinch offers an API-enabled communications platform as a service (CpaaS) with programmable messaging, voice, video, and email services that allow businesses to create omnichannel experiences for customer lifecycle. These APIs include SMS, Rich SMS, MMS, and RCS messaging APIs, allowing users to connect with customers across their preferred channels. Features of the platform include SMS verification, phone call verification, flash call verification, and data verification. It offers virtual long numbers, short codes for messaging campaigns, and toll-free numbers.
The company offers voice and video calling APIs, offering users in-app video calling, voice APIs, in-app voice calling, number masking, SIP trunking, cloud-connected PSTN, and number porting. For email, Sinch offers email APIs, allowing users to send, receive, and track emails through APIs and the company's platform. This includes solutions for sending, receiving, and tracking email; a whitelabel email marketing solution; an API for saving time on sending emails, including tools for sending error-free emails regardless of the display and inbox of the recipient; and an API built to provide users with the tools necessary to increase delivery rates of their emails.
