Skolem's doctoral advisor was Axel Thue , and one of his notable doctoral students was mathematician Øystein Ore .

Thoralf Skolem passed away on March 23, 1963, in Oslo, Norway. As a mathematician and philosopher, Skolem contributed greatly to the fields of mathematical logic and set theory during his lifetime .
