Tristan Walker is the founder and CEO of the company Walker & Company Brands.
Walker attended The Hotchkiss School, an independent boarding school, and graduated in 2002. Following that, he was a student at Stony Brook University, where he graduated in 2005 with a BA in economics; he later attended Stanford Graduate School of Business and graduated in 2010 with an MBA.
Walker has worked for a number of high profile companies. He began his career as an intern at Lehman Brothers in New York City in 2005. He eventually took a full-time job there as an analyst and trader, and stayed there until 2007. Walker then took another position as an analyst and trader at JPMorgan Chase; he left in 2008. While attending graduate school, he interned at both Twitter and Boston Consulting Group for a few months. In 2009, Walker began working at Foursquare in a business development position, where he remained until June 2012, at which point he was an entrepreneur-in-residence at the investment firm Andreessen Horowitz.
In June 2013, Walker founded Walker & Company Brands, a health and beauty company with products designed for People of Color. Walker & Company Brands offers two product lines, the Bevel shaving line for men and FORM Beauty hair care for women. The products are designed specifically for textured hair. Walker & Company Brands was acquired by Procter & Gamble in 2018, making Walker the first Black CEO under Procter & Gamble's company umbrella.
Walker has been recognized for his work in several publications. He was named USA Today's "Person of the Year" in 2014 and has appeared on the lists of Ad Age's "Creativity 50 2014: The Most Creative People of the Year," Fortune’s "40 under 40" list in 2017, Ebony’s "100 Most Powerful People" list in 2017, The Hollywood Reporter’s "Digital Power 50" list in 2017, and TIME's "TIME 100 Next" list in 2019.
