Wesley Clair Mitchell was born on August 5, 1874, in Rushville, Illinois, and held citizenship in the United States. He was educated at the University of Chicago and had a career as an economist and statistician. Mitchell was the founder of the National Bureau of Economic Research, and one of his notable doctoral students was Simon Kuznets. Wesley Clair Mitchell passed away on October 29, 1948, in New York City.
