Established in 2013, Sourcegraph is a company providing a universal code search for developers and companies to manage lines of code.
Sourcegraph provides a universal code search for developers facing growing codebases, repos, and different languages and file formats, and a wide array of developer tools to find, fix, and understand code. In 2013, the company was established by Quinn Slack and Beyang Liu, and it is headquartered in San Francisco. Sourcegraph's focus includes code navigation, code exploration, and contextual code intelligence for code reviews, plus onboarding for hires. In addition, code change campaigns are able to automate large-scale changes. The company is backed by investors including Redpoint ventures, Sequoia Capital, Goldcrest Capital, and Lightspeed Venture Partners.
The company's CEO and co-founder Quinn Slack said:
“Universal code search that we built — and we spent a lot of time building it — is the first kind of code search that actually understands code as code and all the connections, that graph of code. And that means that if you’re a developer, you can get to that answer of how do I do this thing or how do I fix this or if I change this what’s going to break, in way less time and that’s why you need a purpose-built code search tool.”
